Insurance Corporation or ICBC was created in 1973 to offer universal and affordable public auto insurance to Canadian citizens. Having provided stellar service in Canada for decades, ICBC is the basic provider of insurance and additional coverage. It bases its services on a client’s history of claims, type of vehicle, and geographical location.
The corporation is widely popular for its Roadstar and Roadstar Gold discount plan which offers safe drivers reduced premium costs on the number of years the driver has been on the road free of claims against him or her.
Governed by a board of directors appointed via the Insurance Corporation Act, the CEO and Management provide services which are in line with the government’s prescribed practices and legislation, and the rates assigned to the corporation’s services are determined by the British Columbia Utilities Commission.
ICBC Canada spends its revenue towards paying insurance benefits and operation costs, and the remainder is allocated to advocating safe driving and propagating loss prevention strategies.
As of 2016, ICBC Canada stopped insuring luxury cars – around 3000 such vehicles were under ICBC’s portfolio at the time. However, ICBC Canada has been an advocate of safe driving, optimal rates, and promoting environmentalism, too. Their main agenda also includes making roads safer to prevent unnecessary injuries and death.

On April 27 at 11:45AM, I contacted ICBC account services and was on hold for about 45 minutes for my call to be answered. I then spoke with representative Brian or Bryan. I am not complaining that he was not able to help me with my issue, but the way it was done. He was simply monotone and said he was not a life coach. This was very unprofessional to say and was not show any form of empath whatsoever. His tone was like I was speaking to a prosecutor. Everyone has somewhat been effected by the coronavirus and should be handled in a more caring way even though the assistance is not bein provided. I felt low and unimportant with the way he spoke to me. Next time I speak with ICBC and a person name Brian or Bryan answers, I will request to speak with someone else.
