Trivago customer care and support service

Trivago is a German company founded in Dusseldorf in 2005 by Peter Vinnemeier, Malte Siewert, and Rolf Schromgens.

Today, it is a multinational company that operates everywhere around the world as one of the leading hotel search engines. Expedia has been the majority owner of the company’s stocks since 2012.

First of all, you can use Trivago as a browser website to search for hotels around the world, and they have domestic versions of the site in more than 50 countries around the world. Obviously, Canada is one of them and you can check the website here.

There are over 1.8 million hotels in 190 countries featured on the website.

Besides that, you can also use the Trivago app. It’s available in both iOS and Android versions, and it’s highly convenient as it uses your location to provide you with interactive maps and show you all the hotels and accomodations which are in close proximity to your current location.

Trivago users commonly praise its indexes and rankings, as they are very helpful in finding the hotel and accomodation that suits your needs the most.

The TRI (Trivago rating Index) ranks all destinations and hotels on a scale from 0 to 100. This index takes different parameters into account, such as price, location, food, facilities, etc. There are other features that make their website and app highly recommended for all those who like to travel.

Now that you know all about Trivago and what they do, let’s get deeper into the details of how their customer service works.

The Website and Your Profile

Once you reach the website, you’ll be great by a very simple design which only features a search box in which you’re supposed to write your preferred hotel location.

On the right side, you’ll find a dropdown menu which suggests you make your own profile by signing up. It’s highly recommended, because you won’t be able to use all the features properly without a profile.

This is a fairly easy process, and you can even sign up by using your email address, or simply by utilizing your Google or Facebook account.

Once you’ve created your account, you can use the dashboard and the settings to fine-tune it, and you can also manage your booking overview, hotel lists, and subscriptions.

These can be very handy if you travel often and need to compare prices and keep track of all your expenses.

Support Center

Once you’re done setting up your profile, make sure you scroll all the way down to the footer of the site, where you’ll be greeted by a handful of different links and options. On the far left side you’ll find a list which contains a link called “Support Center”.

First of all, we must say that we’re somewhat disappointed by the fact that there is no live chat support, hence no chat bot or real person that would deal with your inquiries.

Once you reach the support center, you’ll find another big search bar in which you’re supposed to type in the keywords or topics you need additional info on.

We’ve noticed that there is no FAQ section on the website, so it’s somewhat logical that they’ve placed such content on their support center page.

There are three different categories (each with subcategories) and these are Booking Information, Payments & Extra Costs, and Trivago Tips & Tricks.

Booking Information

Over here you can find additional info on booking confirmation, cancelling or changing your booking, and booking confirmation issues.

Payments and Extra Costs

This segment deals with three different issues. Here you will find info on whether the prices listed on the site are per night.

If you’re contacted the booking site but still experience issues with the confirmation, visit this page, as you can submit a request by selecting the type of issue you’re experiencing and then filling out an online form.

In case something went wrong and you need your money back, make sure you check out this page for additional info.

Trivago Tips & Tricks

This third section deals with situations such as when you stumble upon something strange on the Trivago website. As the name implies, there are a few tips on how to book your hotel according to your needs.

If you require any special services, take a few minutes and read on about how to deal with those while booking your hotel.

If none of these were helpful, there is an option to contact Trivago by sending them an email. As you can see, there is no phone number listed, so you can only rely on submitting a request and hoping for a fast reply.

We’ve found it somewhat strange that they still opted to list their physical address, so if you’re ever in Dusseldorf, Germany, you can pay them a visit at Bennigsen-Platz 1.

Other Useful Info

People often mistake Trivago for a booking site, so in order to avoid making such a mistake (or a similar one), we strongly suggest you read their terms of service. This will save you a lot of time. It answers a lot of questions you’ll otherwise spend countless hours searching the answers for.

Some of you may be concerned with their privacy policy. Remember signing up by using your Facebook or Google account? The same goes for their cookie policy. They simply have to rely on cookies to provide you the optimum browsing experience, but don’t worry, this is something most websites do.

Social Media Channels

If you’re an avid social media user, you’ll be delighted to know that you can contact Trivago on numerous platforms. Their Facebook page has over 12 million users, and it’s good to know that you can send them direct messages over there. You can also send them a tweet on their Twitter profile.

Google Plus users can follow Trivago over here. If you simply want to get inspired, you can do so by checking out some lovely videos on their official YouTube channel, cool destination pictures on their official Instagram profile, or inspiration boards on their Pinterest profile.
