Hi, I have been learning stock trading and investment for quite a while, and am now ready to put what I have learned into action. While I have been quite impressed with Questrade, I am unsure if the platform offers the option to buy fractional shares. Can someone let me know if we can purchase fractional shares on Questrade?

Every year, more than 200,000 new customers sign up for Questrade, making it appear as though almost every financially-curious Canadian is exploring the platform – and it is not hard to see why, considering its many valuable functions and wide selection of banking services.

You may be wondering, though, if Questrade allows the purchase of fractional shares.

As of now, you cannot purchase fractional shares through Questrade. While Questrade does offer many different types of low-cost ETFs and stocks, customers must buy whole shares.

Even though this isn’t exciting news, you should not worry too much. The concept of fractional shares is a relatively new one in the retail investment world, and most platforms have only started implementing it in the last two to three years. Hence, you can expect Questrade to quickly catch up and start offering fractional shares in the not-so-distant future
